Next steps

Congratulations. This is a big achievement and you’re probably feeling very proud, if a bit exhausted – especially if this is one of your first publications.

It’s important, however, not to assume that your work on this research output is now complete. It may be tempting to think you can forget about this work and move onto your next focus, but you’re strongly encouraged to think about promotion of your published work now. You’ve worked so hard to get to this point that you’re probably keen for as many people as possible to know about it, benefit from it, and be able to build on and cite it.

Promotion opportunities

Although some publishers will have promotional support in place to highlight recently-published content, including social media activity, the responsibility for effective promotion and dissemination of your work is likely to fall mostly on you as the author. You may wish to discuss promotion opportunities with your publisher during the production process so you’re clear on what’s possible.
