Setting up your IT account

Get started graphic‌The first thing you will need to do is set up your IT account. Our online library is available worldwide, 24 hours a day; once you have your IT account up and running, you can access it at any time, from anywhere.

To set up your account you need to register on the main University of Manchester IT webpage using the IT Account Manager. The page explains how to activate or change your password to help give you access to the University's central computing facilities.

Accessing online resources

Once you have set up your IT account you can use your username and password to sign into our online resources, including Library Search and databases. These allow you to search and access e-books, e-journals, articles and more.

Developing your skills

Continue to improve and build confidence in your study skills. Find advice and guidance through the Library’s skills programme My Learning Essentials, our specialist support services and one-to-one support.

Getting help and support

If there is something specific you need help with or want to ask us a question, there are lots of ways to access help and support. Library Help contains a frequently asked questions section where you can find answers to common problems and troubleshooting issues. You can ask us a question online via our Enquiry service, use Library Live Chat in real time or call General Enquiries to speak to us.
