LibKey Nomad

LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that automatically provides links to full-text content of articles courtesy of The University of Manchester Library as you do research on the web and come across literature.

LibKey Nomad consults the Library’s holdings data - and open access alternatives - to determine the best place to source the article from.

Special enhancement is also performed in-line on sites like PubMed and Wikipedia.

How to use LibKey Nomad

When you land on a page with an article that is available to download LibKey Nomad presents a banner alert at the bottom of your screen.  Click to download the PDF.

If you are off-campus, you will be steered to the University Login Service to authenticate as an authorised user. LibKey Nomad does not store your credentials.

LibKey Nomad 1

LibKey Nomad will connect you with our FindIt@MCR service when you land on a page where the PDF is not accessible.

In the example below from the Journal of Finance the Library has access at JSTOR but not at Wiley Online Library, and LibKey Nomad presents a banner alert at the bottom of the page labelled ‘Access Options…’ which will connect you to our FindIt@MCR service on Library Search.

LibKey Nomad 2

LibKey Nomad also brings increased and easier functionality to PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus.

On search result pages you will see links to articles and PDFs, the cover images of the journals that articles appear in, plus links to view all the articles in a journal issue through BrowZine.

LibKey Nomad 3

LibKey Nomad also works with Wikipedia. When viewing the list of references for an entry an in-line link will appear next to articles and PDFs when the citation is to a scholarly source that can be accessed courtesy of the Library:
