We provide workshops and drop-ins in the specialist areas of Referencing, Business Data, Advanced searching and Systematic reviews.
Members of staff can request sessions to be delivered within the curriculum by completing this online form.
We can also arrange group sessions for postgraduate students and researchers, tailored to support you and your colleagues. Contact us at uml.teachingandlearning@manchester.ac.uk to discuss options.
Referencing support drop-in. Online
Do you have a question about how to reference, or how best to use reference management software such as EndNote? The Referencing drop-in gives you the opportunity to speak to one of our Library experts to get support and guidance.
Drop-ins are open to all University of Manchester students, researchers and staff. In peak times you may need to wait, support and advice will be provided as quickly as possible. You can join the drop-in at any time during the session!

Bloomberg introduction
Provides an introductory guide to the use of Bloomberg. 'Bloomberg Professional' is a company/financial data and news service.
Covers: Bloomberg keyboard, searching, practical session (worksheet), business news and Help features.
If you are not registered for a taught module in Alliance MBS building please email uml.teachingandlearning@manchester.ac.uk to arrange for someone to let you into the building as only these students have access, you are still welcome to attend the workshop!

Beginners' reference management with EndNote desktop
This hands-on session will introduce you to the EndNote reference management software, a tool to help with managing your references and creating citations and bibliographies in different formats. The workshop will help to get you started using EndNote to manage references, annotate the PDFs of articles attached to your reference data and to generate bibliographies in over 5000 different styles.

Datastream introduction
This workshop is designed to introduce students to Datastreams essential functions.
By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
Find and download company fundamental /accounting data
Find and download economic indicators

Searching systematically. Online
This online searching systematically workshop will introduce you to the four database platforms that house most of the medical and health sciences databases. This session is based on the searching systematically workshop delivered on Campus.
You will be shown how to replicate a search topic in these four database platforms: EBSCO and OVID platforms which host databases such as PsycInfo and CINAHL, and Clarivate and Proquest platforms which host the Web of Science and ASSIA databases.
There will be allotted time for you to practice or ask questions after each of the four demonstrations

Beginners reference management with EndNote desktop online
This hands-on session will introduce you to the EndNote desktop reference management software, a tool to help with collecting, managing and organising your references and creating citations and bibliographies in different formats.  
In the session you will gain practical experience of managing an EndNote Library including using the Cite While You Write function to insert and format in-text citations and bibliographies within Microsoft Word documents.
