Enhancing your students’ learning.
What is the eTextbook Programme?
The eTextbook Programme is part of our Reading Lists service.
It provides each student on a module with their own personal copy of a downloadable interactive electronic textbook.
Unlike standard ebooks, eTextbooks are purchased for each individual student within a cohort of a module.
It’s the electronic equivalent of buying a print copy for each student, and, in most cases, students can keep their eTextbook for the duration of their studies.
Support for you and your students
How do I get an eTextbook for my students?
For an item on your reading list to be considered for the eTextbook Programme, you should tag it as ‘core’ in Reading Lists Online and submit changes to the Library.
If you want to be considered for the programme, only one item should be tagged as core on your reading list. This should be the item you want to be provided as an eTextbook.
Please do not tag the item more than once even if it appears on the list twice or as a different edition as the system will not recognise it as a request for an eTextbook. The tags are only visible to staff and are not seen by students.
A core text is the main textbook students are required to use extensively throughout the course, as defined by the Library policy for the purchase of reading list books:

What are the benefits?
- Students can download their textbook to multiple devices for free, enabling them to access crucial course material from anywhere in the world at no cost.
- eTextbooks are interactive, encouraging deeper student engagement with texts. For example, students and tutors can add and share notes, highlight key phrases and perform full text searches using navigation tools.
- Accessibility tools allow users to customise their reading by changing font and size or use the Read Aloud option.
- Tutors have access to integrated teaching and learning tools and an in depth analytics dashboard to track usage and encourage engagement.
In addition to your students having access to their textbook you can also access a suite of analytics showing your students engagement with the textbook.
