Workshop

In this workshop we will explore the basic principles of copyright ownership, whilst showing you how to find and use copyright protected materials in your work, research or teaching. You will learn about different ways to use copyrighted works, exploring different licences and exceptions in law. Finally, you will get the chance to practice assessing the level of risk involved in intended uses of copyrighted material by evaluating common educational examples. This workshop is recommended for students, researchers and staff.

Course Objectives

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

  • Explore the principles of copyright ownership and discuss their importance
  • Identify where to find and how to use freely licenced content online
  • Differentiate between different types of copyright licences and exceptions, understanding how they can be used to support effective use of copyright materials
  • Practice assessing the level of risk involved in planned use of copyrighted material
