Ronald Lane (1897-1995) was Professor of Occupational Health (then known as Industrial Health) at the University of Manchester from 1945 until 1964. Lane's chair was the first in this subject in the UK.
Lane was a specialist in industrial disease, working in areas as varied as industrial poisons, electrical injuries, industrial noise, Raynaud's disease and byssinosis in textile workers. He also set up an advisory occupational health service to assist local industries.
This small collection of papers includes reports, lectures, and notes from Lane’s investigations, and a minute book of the North West Occupational Health Group, a body with which he was closely involved.
