Norah Niland Papers

Norah Niland is the former Director of Human Rights in UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan 2008-2010 and has worked in humanitarian settings in a number of capacities, primarily in the field of humanitarian protection and human rights in Afghanistan.

This collection consists of reports, minutes, policy documents, grey literature, correspondence and articles, relates mostly to her work in Afghanistan 1999-2010, in particular the rights of women and girls and the work of the UN Assistance Mission based in Kabul. It also includes her MPhil notes on life in refugee camps on the Thai Cambodian border and notes from a 1996 research visit to Cambodia for a global study on landmines.
