Norah Niland was a humanitarian worker and consultant throughout the 1980s-2010s, including on missions in Liberia, Cambodia and Sri Lanka and for the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). She has worked extensively in Afghanistan in the 2000s and is the former Director of Human Rights for the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan 2008-2010.
This collection consists of reports, research notes, grey literature, correspondence and articles, and relates mostly to her work on Afghanistan 1999-2010, in particular the rights of women and girls, human rights and humanitarian protection during periods of conflict.
