Roger Briottet Collection

Roger Briottet was a legal expert, academic and humanitarian. He worked extensively in Ethiopia in the 1980s during the civil war and ensuing famine and criminal trials, including as head of the Eritrea Inter Agency Consortium and the Tigray Transport and Agriculture Consortium (TTAC).

His collection consists of:

  • Notes and reports on the famine and agricultural programmes in Ethiopia and Eritrea 1983-95.
  • Correspondence, notes and minutes relating to Briottet’s work in Ethiopia during and after the civil war, including the transitional government established in the early 90s and his consultancy to special prosecutor’s office for the trials of Derg members.
  • Notes and publications from Briottet’s human rights research in Burundi and Togo in the 1990s.
