Jonathan Falla Collection

This collection consists of diaries, photographs, slides and papers produced or collected by Jonathan Falla, an author and former humanitarian worker and tropical diseases nurse.

Falla worked in a range of countries in a number of different capacities, including in famine relief, logistics and healthcare training. The majority of his literary output has been inspired by his humanitarian experience. His non-fiction work True Love and Bartholomew: Rebels on the Burmese border was based on his work with Karen rebels for Health Unlimited in Burma, while his play Topokana Martyrs' Day based on his experience working in famine relief in Karamoja, Uganda.

The collection includes:

  • An extensive series of diaries, mostly handwritten, kept by Falla during his travel and work abroad
  • Slides and photographs taken by Falla
  • Some papers, letters and maps
  • Copies of Falla’s published works
