Accounting Standards Committee Archive

Date range: 1952-1990

Medium: Archive

Papers of the Accounting Standards Committee of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB). The ASC was established in 1976 to develop a system of definitive standards for financial reporting and accounting, following the accounting scandals of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The ASC was superseded by the Accounting Standards Board in 1990.

Material includes the minutes and papers of the ASC committees, subject files, press releases, press cuttings, government and other reports, draft and published copies of standards, offprints and copies of articles and extracts from books. The collection also contains the papers of the ASC's predecessor body, the Accounting Standards Steering Committee (ASSC).
