Jon Shard is a Manchester photographer whose distinctive eye has earned him recognition across fashion, sport and portraiture; his portfolio spans national and international advertising campaigns created for some of the world’s leading brands.
Throughout his career, portraiture has been a central focus of Shard’s practice. He has photographed many of the world’s most celebrated sports stars, as well as leading figures from acting, music and the creative industries. Although his portfolio spans international commissions, his work retains a distinctly Manchester sensibility. This is evident in his portraits of the city’s cultural icons, his documentary images of Manchester’s Afro Caribbean Carnival and his early photographs capturing the flamboyance of the Flesh club nights at The Haçienda.
Jon Shard has exhibited globally including at New York’s Museum of Sex, Open Eye Gallery, CHANEL 2023/2024 METIERS D'ART in Manchester. Shard has several portraits in the permanent collection of London’s National Portrait Gallery.
