The collection represents the full range of Wilson’s personal life, career and influence. Including materials relating to his education - particularly at University, his first moves into Journalism and then established career as a presenter at Granada TV. The Granada materials cover his work on Granada Reports and regional news programmes, the arts section What’s On and cultural music programme So It Goes.

Current holdings:

Factory materials cover the full range of his involvement from early the launch of the Factory nights at the Russell Club, Factory Records, The Haçienda, Dry, Factory Too, In The City and other music industry involvement. The Factory materials link mainly to the bands New Order, Durutti Column, Happy Mondays, A Certain Ratio and Joy Division but do cover many of the other Factory artists and offshoots including Factory Classical.

The materials cover letters, business correspondence, personal correspondence, photographs - both personal and business, posters, flyers, artwork, recorded materials, promotional materials and ephemera.

The collection is of interest to researchers across many disciplines, including history, popular culture, music, design, sociology and politics.
