Dave Cunliffe Collection

Papers belonging to Dave Cunliffe, Blackburn based poet and publisher who founded Poetmeat, an influential magazine which he ran with Tina Morris 1963-1967. There are also complete runs of its successor Global Tapestry and the entire output of Cunliffe’s small press, BB Books.

There are examples of Cunliffe’s own work (separated into poetry and prose) and a substantial amount of cutting and original artwork by Arthur Moyse along with a number of printed books collected by Cunliffe and relating to his collection.

In addition there is a comprehensive archive documenting the history of Global Tapestry and BB Books, comprising business papers and extensive correspondence with poets, editors, publishers, journalists, musicians and others. The collection also includes hundreds of rare literary and countercultural magazines collected by Cunliffe.

This collection will be of interest to researchers of poetic countercultural and it specifically complements a number of counter culture collections held in Special Collections, including the papers of Jeff Nuttall, dom sylvester houédard, Robert Bank and Jim Burns.
