The Library's collection of early editions of the works of Ariosto is the second most important in Britain, comprising 83 of the 280 16th-century editions recorded by Agnelli and Ravegnani (Giuseppe Agnelli and Giuseppe Ravegnani, Annali delle Edizioni Ariostee: con CXIV tavole fuori testo (Bologna: Nicola Zanichelli, 1933).

The 16th-century editions of all the other works by Ariosto are available save for the prose version of La Cassaria and Erbolato.

Dialect versions include the very rare 1558 edition, French translations date from 1720 and 1844, and the Library holds ten of the twelve English translations published up to 1800, including the first edition of Harington's translation, 1591, and a rare first issue of the first Croker edition of 1755.
