Papers of the Hulme Study
The Hulme Study was undertaken from 1987 to 1990 to formulate proposals with a view to improving the environmental, commercial, employment and social conditions in Hulme and the Moss Side District Centre. The study was managed by a Supervisory Group which consisted of a partnership between the City Council, Hulme Tenants and the Department of the Environment. Valerie Karn was appointed as an independent chair to the group.

Notable items include the 95 interviews with key figures who discuss American politics, economics, health and welfare and racial polarisation in the 1980s and 1990s.

Stephen Lawrence Newspaper Cuttings Collection
Newspaper cuttings and photocopies of articles relating to the murder and criminal case of Stephen Lawrence, covering the period from Stephen's murder on 22 April 1993 until the eventual conviction of two of the five suspects, following a number of police failings, nearly 20 years later.
