Acquiring Library resources (researchers)
The Library acquires over 38,000 new items each year and these are ordered, catalogued and processed by the Collection Management division of the Library. We aim to deliver newly purchased material to the shelves using the most cost-effective and efficient means.
Order new Library books via My Manchester
Select the "Make a library purchase request" header on My Manchester and fill in the order form as requested. (n.b. You'll need to click on one of the "View All" tabs in order to access the "Library" header).
If you would like any of your ordered books to be delivered directly to your office on arrival, just tick the appropriate box on the request form. As soon as the item is received by the Library it will be fast-tracked, issued to your library account and delivered to your office. You can expect delivery within 2 working days of receiving a notification email. For auditing and tracking purposes, you will need to sign for the item on receipt.
Alternatively, you may prefer to reserve the item and collect it from the Library, or have it added to stock on the open shelves. (Please see the list of FAQs for further details).
