Collecting items

Non-collection charges

There is a non-collection charge of £10 for all Inter-Library Loans that are not collected.

There will be a seven day grace period from arrival notification whereby you must contact the Inter-Library Loans team if you no longer need the item, or cannot collect within the month.

As the service is heavily subsidised we have had to introduce this penalty to try to combat the amount of items which are left uncollected.

Main Library

Inter-Library Loans

Material can be accessed from the Inter-Library Loans department via the Main Library Customer Services (Reception) Desk between the hours of 9am-4pm Monday to Friday.

Customer Services Desk on Blue Ground

If you have made arrangements with ILL Staff material can be accessed from the Customer Services Desk on Blue Ground.  

During term time this desk is open:

  • 8am to 8pm Monday to Thursday (7pm Friday)
  • 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday

Electronic Delivery of Articles from the British Library

Articles supplied by the British Library can be sent directly to your University email address.

In order to receive documents from the British Library in this way you must register for a British Library On Demand Account. You will need to create a username and password that you will have to use when you access documents supplied to you by British Library On Demand. You must also have Adobe Digital Editions.

Documents supplied in this way are not PDFs and cannot be saved electronically. Once the British Library has sent you the link to the document you have 30 days to access and have permission to print one copy for your own use.
