Research skills: primary sources with Special Collections

Special Collections are a powerful tool for enhancing the learning experience. They offer glimpses into past worlds, ideas and beliefs which raise interesting questions around contemporary concepts and values. The University of Manchester Library has a globally renowned collection which is open to all students and staff to use. This session introduces you to primary sources and how to use them and teaches you how to approach special collections and the ins and outs of primary source research. In the second half of the session there is the opportunity to interact with the University map collection and get some valuable hands-on experience with primary materials.
