John Ruskin Printed Works

Date range: 19th-20th centuries

Number of items: 450 items (dispersed)

To complement the Library's outstanding collection of letters and other manuscripts of John Ruskin (1819-1900), there is a large collection of Ruskin's first editions and other material relating to his works. Some three hundred and forty separate 19th-century editions are available, including not only the many items issued from Orpington but also the possible suspect and unauthorized Wise editions, many of which are printed on vellum.

It is interesting to note that much of this collection was bought by Enriqueta Rylands herself before the foundation of the Library.
