Hugh H. Bellot Book Collection

The working library of Hugh Hale Bellot (1890-1969), Professor of American History at the University of London, was bequeathed in 1969.

The books date mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries, with an emphasis on 19th-century English, European and American history. Other subjects covered include English literature, natural history, travel and topography.

It should be noted that Professor Bellot donated numerous other books to the Library over many years; these have been incorporated into the general stock. A number of children's books and adventure stories donated by Professor Bellot have been transferred into the Children's Printed Collection.
