Northern Baptist College Printed Collection

Date range: 16th-20th centuries

Medium: Printed

Number of items: 4,700 items.

The collection contains items printed between 1558 and 1977, the most important for primary source material being issued in the 18th and 19th centuries. The volumes include pamphlets, monographs, biographies, sermons, hymn books, local histories and periodicals, most of which were written by Baptist authors.

The collection is of particular significance for the history of the Baptist Church in Britain in the 18th and 19th centuries, with an impressive number of English provincial and Scottish imprints, but there is some coverage of North America and of Baptist overseas missions.
