Auditing Practices Committee Archive

Date range: 1971-1991

Medium: Archive

The Auditing Practices Committee was established in 1976 by the Committee of Consultative Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) to produce professional standards and working guidelines for auditors and to facilitate debate in the field of auditing. It was born out of the business and financial crises of the late 1960s and early 1970s, which resulted in criticism of the industry.

The Committee's archive includes minutes of meetings, correspondence and subject files relating to its work, reports and memoranda, guidelines and draft standards, and press releases and press cuttings. There are also copies of APC publications as well as research material used in the course of the Committee's work.
