Jack Keiser (1915-2001) combined a career in the engineering industry with active participation in Christian lay ministry, with a particular involvement in the Student Christian Movement and Industrial Mission Association. Keiser was licensed as a lay reader in the Church of England in 1951 and joined the staff of the William Temple College and Foundation in 1969.
The collection contains Keiser’s personal papers, which comprise diaries, travel notes, correspondence, texts of sermons and talks, and a typescript autobiography. There are papers relating to the Student Christian Movement, the Industrial Mission Association, the William Temple College and Foundation, the World Council of Churches, the British Council of Churches and the Fabian Society. These include newsletters, annual reports, publications/publicity materials, and runs of periodicals such as Student World, Ecumenical Review and Frontier.
The collection is of interest to students of social history, lay ministry, industrial mission and the Christian socialist movement.
