The Mark Warner collection is a body of work by the Manchester photographer Mark Warner (1960-2001). A photographer of great virtuosity and technical skill, Mark lectured in photography at a number of colleges in the Manchester area and was lecturer in charge of photography at the Abraham Moss Centre of Manchester College of Arts and Technology. Born in Urmston, Mark studied at the Manchester Polytechnic in the 1970s which is now Manchester Metropolitan University.

Mark's photographic practice was varied, including social documentary photography, street photography, art photography and portrait photography. The collection includes portraits of many luminaries from the Manchester music scene c.1980-2000.

The collection includes prints, negatives, contact sheets, slides, art works, cameras and photo books that belonged to Mark Warner. The collection is of interest to researchers across many disciplines, including photography and art history, and also to those interested in visual culture and sociology.
