Accessing resources

Library Search

  • Library Search: Search for electronic resources including eBook s and journal articles

Student desk‌Library Search allows you to search for and access resources (articles, books, journals, images etc.) held by or subscribed to by The University of Manchester Library.  It pulls together many of the Library’s systems and allows you to search across them simultaneously.

You can access Library Search from the Library’s homepage, or My Manchester.

If going via the Library website you should sign in to Library Search to ensure that you can view all resources and save your results.

Library Access

Library Access is a browser extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox that makes it easier to access electronic resource content courtesy of The University of Manchester Library.

When you are off-campus, you can use the extension to read electronic journal articles, e-books, reviews and other online material provided by the Library without having to visit the Library website first.

Reading lists and subject guides

Search reading lists to find recommended reading for your units.

  • Subject guides: Tailored advice on finding resources for your subject

Subject guides contain useful information and details of recommended resources to support your studies.

Find your subject guide for a list of useful databases in your discipline to search for electronic resources such as journal articles.

There are additional guides available to support you with your studies, such as guides on referencing and statistics.
