Finding and borrowing items
All items in the High Demand Collection are listed on Library Search. You may find it helpful to select "Library catalogue only" to narrow down your search.
Please note the shelfmark of the item required, retrieve it from the shelf and take it to the self-issue machines located next to the High Demand desk. You will need your Library card to use the self-issue machines.
Recently returned items are placed on trolleys prior to being re-shelved. If you cannot find what you are looking for on the shelves, please check the trolleys. If you are having difficulty, please ask a member of staff at the High Demand desk for assistance.
All material must be issued before being taken out of the collection.
High Demand items can be borrowed for one night. Items can be borrowed at any time on the day of issue but must be returned by 11.59pm on the due date. Items issued on a Friday will be due for return at 11.59pm on the Monday.
Due dates will be clearly indicated on the receipt printed from the self-service machines. If you would like a receipt, please press "print" on the screen when you are prompted to do so. For further details about your Library account, you can log in to My Manchester.
If you are registered with the Disability Support Team you may be eligible for extended loans from the High Demand collection. Please speak to High Demand staff for more information.
To be able to borrow, you must have a current Library card with you and be a registered student or staff member of The University of Manchester.
The loan quota for High Demand is limited to five items at any one time.
If you require assistance, please ask at the High Demand desk, which is staffed from 8.30am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
