University researchers are required to comply with the HEFCE Open Access (OA) policy and the OA policy of any funder acknowledged in their publications. Depositing your publication in a repository is a requirement of most funder policies. Find out more about the University's Open Access policies.
Deposit your publication in the institutional repository (Pure)
Please use the Open Access Gateway to deposit all peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers accepted from 1 April 2016. The Library will then ensure that your paper meets the Open Access requirements to be eligible for the next REF by verifying the manuscript version, checking applicable journal and funder policies and setting embargo periods on publication.
Journal articles and conference papers accepted prior to 1 April 2016, and book chapters, monographs and other output types, can be deposited directly to Pure. Please see the Pure support website for instructions and guidance.
Deposit your publication in a discipline-specific repository
The University recognises the following discipline-specific repositories as sustainable routes for researchers to make their publications Green OA.
- Europe PMC
- RePEc (Research Papers in Economics)
- SSRN eLibrary (Social Sciences Research Network)
Your research funder may require you to deposit your publication in one of these or another discipline-specific repository. Where the repository allows it, the University encourages you to deposit your work in one or more of these repositories. This will further improve the ability of others to access and read your work.
Please refer to the help documentation available within each repository for further information on how to deposit your publications to these repositories.
