Charles Tucker (1808-81)
Charles Tucker was born at Horton on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales. He became a member of the Methodist Society at the age of eighteen and a local preacher shortly after. Tucker entered the Wesleyan ministry in 1830 on the recommendation of the Swansea circuit and served for ten years on the Friendly Islands in the Pacific. He returned to England in 1843 for health reasons and exercised an active circuit ministry in England and Wales until superannuation in 1864. He spent his retirement in Bristol.
