John Hutchinson Norton (1812-99)
John Hutchinson Norton was born at Grantham, Lincolnshire. His family moved to Lincoln while Norton was very young and his father died soon after. Norton was converted at the age of sixteen through the preaching of John Smith and he began to preach locally two years later. Norton entered the Wesleyan ministry in 1835 and exercised an active circuit ministry until superannuation in 1883.
Norton wrote many popular tracts and was a frequent contributor to periodicals.
