James Atkins (1808-54)

James Atkins was born in Salisbury and became a member of the Wesleyan society there at the age of seventeen. His conversion was effected by the ministry of the minister Isaac Bradnock.

Atkins became a local preacher in 1826 and entered the full itinerancy in 1830. After four years in the home ministry, he was appointed to the Jamaica District where he spent the rest of his ministry. He died in Kingston.
