What's new in Library Search

We've been working hard to improve Library Search to make it work better on mobile phones and tablets as well as laptops and PCs. we've also worked to ensure that your search results are more relevant and useful to you.

The major changes are described below.

The most striking change to Library Search is its appearance which now matches the current Library website to provide an almost seamless transition from the Library website to your search results.

Library Search - new version

Improved responsive design

The design is more responsive and incorporates features not available for mobile devices in the current version Library Search.

Mobile users will now be able to access the e-shelf, and a drop-down menu with the navigation choices available to PC users. This added functionality can be accessed through the buttons below:

Improved search

Changes to search now mean that you should see more relevant results.

We’ve added the option to refine your search by resource type. You’ll see a drop down list below the search box with a list of the different type of resource you can search for such as books, articles, journals, databases, images and more.

Live chat

We’ve also added live chat, “Can we help?”, so that you can ask any questions you may have about Library Search while you are using it. You’ll see the tab on the right of your screen.

Library Search on the Library website

There are changes to Library Search on the website too.

Search is now in the page banner, just like on the new Library Search.

We’ve added new pages so you can find out about the different resources available and then search click on any links provided to browse or search resources elsewhere.
