Ernest Byerley Wright (1904-79)
Ernest Byerley Wright was born in Melksham, Wiltshire, son of a Wesleyan minister. After training at Richmond College, he was ordained and appointed to the China mission in 1932. Wright's first period of overseas service lasted until 1945 when he returned to England. He volunteered to go back to China in 1948 and remained there under very difficult conditions for two years. Wright served as a circuit minister in England from 1950 until ill health forced his withdrawal from the active ministry.
