Gilbert G. Warren (1861-1927)
Gilbert G. Warren was born at Exeter in Somerset, the son of Methodist parents. He trained for the Wesleyan ministry at Didsbury College and spent his entire ministry in China. He joined the distinguished missionary David Hill in Wuchang in 1886 and served as the first Chairman of the Hunan District between 1907 and his death, which occurred in the town of Chang Sha from the effects of a tropical disease which had first attacked him three years earlier. Despite his failing health, he had refused to leave missionary work.
