Thomas Vivian (1722-1793)

Thomas Vivian was born at Kenwyn in Cornwall. He was educated at Truro Grammar School and Exeter College, Oxford. After graduation, Vivian was ordained into the Anglican ministry and served two curacies in his native county before being appointed to Cornwood in Devon in 1747.

Vivian was a member of Samuel Walker's clerical club and exercised a ministry on Methodist lines. He established classes and published a highly regarded manual for catechizing.
