George Mathew Thomas (1882-1961)

George Mathew Thomas was born at Batley in Yorkshire. He spent a year as a lay pastor before training for the ministry at Didsbury. Thomas served as a missionary in the Wuchang district of China from 1909 to 1927. He pioneered the work of the Church in new areas and with others, helped to establish several medical clinics.

After his return from overseas, Thomas served as a circuit minister until superannuation in 1947.
