Charles Ryder-Smith (1873-1956)

Charles Ryder-Smith was born in Mansfield, Yorkshire. He entered the Wesleyan ministry in 1895 and served in India from 1903 to 1908 before returning to the home ministry.

In 1920 he was appointed theology tutor at Richmond College and served as college principal from 1929 to 1940. He was also professor of theology at London University from 1932 to 1940. Smith was President of the Wesleyan Conference in 1931.
