John Robinson (1786-1865)

John Robinson was born at Ribchester in Lancashire. He was converted at the age of sixteen by a sermon preached in Preston by the Wesleyan minister John Hickling. Robinson entered the itinerancy in 1813 on the recommendation of the Rochdale circuit and exercised an active circuit ministry, principally in the southwest of England, until superannuation in 1843. Robinson spent his retirement first in Devonport, then Ashburton and London before finally moving to Camelford in 1848 where he died on 22 May 1865
