Joseph Roberts (1790-1874)

Joseph Roberts was born near Holmfirth, Yorkshire. He was converted at the age of eighteen and entered the Wesleyan ministry in 1814. He exercised an active circuit ministry for fifty-four years and did particularly notable work during the cholera epidemic of 1832 in Leeds. He became a superannuary in 1868 but continued to work in Bradford on Avon for a further four years.
