George Roberts (1766-1827)

George Roberts was born near Easton in Talbot County, Maryland, British North America. Converted in early life, he served as a local preacher before joining the itinerancy in 1790. He served in Maryland and New England, where he assisted Jesse Lee and Francis Asbury. From 1793 to 1796 he was a presiding elder in Connecticut and went on to serve in a number of other important circuits including New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
