John Rigg (1786-1857)

John Rigg was born at Little Strickland in Westmoreland. He was converted by Methodist preaching at the age of seventeen and entered the ministry in 1808. His circuit ministry lasted until superannuation in 1855, after which he settled in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

His son James Harrison Rigg (1821-1909) was President of the Wesleyan Conference in 1878.
