William Pine (fl.1780)

William Pine was a prominent Bristol Methodist, who in addition to founding two local newspapers did much to promote the publishing and sale of Methodist literature including the first edition of John Wesley's works.

Pine was a member of the conservative wing of Methodism and clashed with John Wesley over the American ordinations and later sided with the chapel trustees during the Portland Street Chapel affair.
