Captain Phillips (fl.1740)

Captain Phillips was instrumental in the founding of the first Methodist Society in Cardiff. In 1740 he issued a joint invitation with Revd. Nathaniel Wells to Charles Wesley to visit South Wales and he entertained Wesley in his home on several occasions during the visit. No further information about him is known.
