Charles Perronet (1723-76)
Charles Perronet was born in Sundridge, Kent, a son of the Revd. Vincent Perronet, close associate of the Wesley brothers. He joined the Methodists in 1746 and a year later accompanied Charles Wesley on a visit to Ireland. Perronet entered the itinerancy in 1751 but withdrew from the Connexion after a few years because of his outspoken advocacy of formal seperation from the Church of England.
Peronnet later lived in Canterbury with his brother Edward.
