John Nelson (1785-1877)

John Nelson was born near Lisbellew in County Fermanagh, Ireland. Nelson's parents were Methodists and John was baptised by John Wesley on the occasion of his only visit to the area. Nelson entered the Wesleyan ministry in 1809 and was appointed to the Irish mission. His active circuit ministry lasted until superannuation in 1859.
