William Marriott (1753-1815)

William Marriott was the London-born son of devout Methodist parents. He was educated at Wesley's school at the Foundery and later by John Fletcher. Marriott made a large fortune as a stock broker and proved a generous benefactor to worthy causes, especially the Stranger's Friend Society. He also acted as one of the executors to John Wesley's will.
