William Lees (1825-1905)

William Lees was born in Oldham, Lancashire. He joined the Wesleyan Church at an early age and at eighteen became a local preacher.

In 1848 he entered the ministry from the Great Bridgewater Street Circuit in Manchester.

Lees was a successful circuit minister for forty years. The Bingley Circuit in Yorkshire experienced a great revival in 1865 during his time there and he was instrumental in promoting the construction of Trinity Chapel in Stockport.

He retired to Ashton on Ribble near Preston in 1888.
