George Stephenson Hornby (1841-1911)

George Stephenson Hornby was born at Foston near Driffield in Lancashire. He joined the Wesleyan Methodist Church in about 1861 and became a local preacher. Hornby offered himself for the full-time ministry but was rejected. In 1865 he entered the Methodist New Connexion ministry, serving as President of Conference in 1900, Correspondence Secretary in 1898 and Connexional Editor 1893-98
