Joseph Hoidge (1818-73)
Joseph Hoidge was born at Milton Abbott in Devon and was converted in about 1838. He entered the Bible Christian ministry in 1841 and volunteered to go as a missionary to the United States in 1851. He spent nine years in Wisconsin and Ohio before joining the Canadian ministry. Hoidge served as President of the Canadian Conference in 1861 and 1866.
