George Highfield (1761-1852)
George Highfield was born in Liverpool and was converted on May 8 1781. He entered the itinerancy in 1786 and went on to serve as an active circuit minister until superannuation in 1831. His retirement was spent first in Liverpool and then Huddersfield.
Highfield was described in his conference obituary as simple and unassuming but possessed of a sound judgement. He rendered particularly valuable service in Huddersfield at the time of the Methodist New Connexion division in 1797.
